Proud Moments as Students Embrace Country Week 2025

Hope Christian College Shines at Country Week 2025

Country Week 2025 was a milestone year for Hope Christian College. In 2024, our school attended the Senior High Schools Country Week for the first time, taking a single Netball team. This year, we saw incredible growth — five teams representing five different sports and over 40 students proudly wearing our colours. What began as an introduction to the event has quickly grown into an exciting opportunity for more of our students to learn, compete, and build friendships that will last for years.

A Year of Growth and Team Spirit

The week was not only about the results, but about the way our students worked together, supported each other, and displayed genuine sportsmanship both on and off the court. Whether it was cheering on their classmates, celebrating a well‑fought game, or laughing together in the Dining Hall, our students demonstrated the heart of what it means to be part of Hope Christian College.

Team Achievements

As a College, we know that the best achievements aren’t always those that come from winning, but from making the very best effort that we can. We are proud of the wins and highlights each team enjoyed:

  • Touch Rugby Team: Played with energy and enthusiasm, scoring an outstanding 3 wins to come 3rd in their division.
  • Netball Team: Stayed strong right to the final whistle, with a hard-fought win. Coming 7th overall in their division.
  • Basketball Team: Grew in confidence with every game against tough competition. Their well-deserved win earned them 8th place in their division.
  • Volleyball Team: Showed endless determination and outstanding leadership from select players. They have improved with every game and are looking forward to taking on next year’s competition.
  • The Speech and Debating Team: Came away with an outstanding first place in their division, which you can read more about here.

Every team left with moments to celebrate and experiences to grow from, proving that Country Week is about much more than just the scoreboard.

Voices from Our Students

Throughout the week, the smiles and laughter both on, and off the field said it all. Here are some reflections from the students themselves:

“Winning was awesome, but honestly the best part was just playing heaps of games with my mates and getting to know more people.” – Jaymi Ferris, Year 10

“I loved how everyone cheered each other on, even if we didn’t win. Big thanks to the teachers for taking us and supporting us – Liana Legg, Year 11

Looking Ahead

Country Week 2025 was a reminder of the power of opportunity. From one team just a year ago to more than 40 students representing Hope Christian College this year, we are proud of how far our students have come. Their teamwork, resilience, and joy in playing are what made this week such a success.

This week would not have been possible without the masterful leadership of Mrs Lena King, who gave countless hours of her own time to organise this enormous event for our school. We are exceedingly grateful for the efforts of all our staff, including the team coaches: Mr Cawcutt, Miss Proudfoot, Ms Keating, Miss Hewson and Miss Nilan.

Hope Christian College looks forward to continuing this journey, encouraging all students to strive, grow, and discover new talents — both on the sports field and beyond.
