Congratulations to our Year 8 students, Harry Green, Lily Holland, Cara Mellowship, and Jake Thorburn. The group achieved an outstanding result in the semi-finals of the Synergy Solar Car Challenge. These students used the knowledge and skills gained in their Science and STEM classes to construct a solar-powered car. The students won their first race and came overall runner-up in the semi-final. This was an outstanding result, competing against many other schools in the South-West region. They then travelled to Perth for the Grand Final.
This was a really unique experience for us, it was great to get out of the classroom. It was all about using our problem-solving skills – Lily
We had to use lots of teamwork skills, it takes a lot of practice, but it’s worth it. – Jake
In Science we learnt about wiring and circuits, which helped us know how to create the best car. – Harry
I’m really excited to head to the Grand Final, I’m hoping to do well, but I’m also just happy to be competing. – Cara
